As a rapidly growing manufacturer of custom designed industrial & commercial equipment that supports our chemistry application, we are seeking a motivated Controls Engineer to join our growing team.
Job Description for Controls Engineer:
This broad technical position will involve design and support of electro-mechanical equipment encompassing motors, fans, blowers, relays, timers, VFD drives, PLCs and other industrial controls.
This Engineer will be responsible for programming Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs integrated into our most advanced equipment; therefore, this programming experience is essential.
This Engineer will assist in designing and specifying new equipment technology and control systems.
This Engineer will occasionally assist customers along with in-house technical and sales staff in the field through phone and written support, so good communication skills are essential.
This Engineer may also support the creation of technical manuals and other literature as needed.
This role works closely with sales, production, logistics and business operations.
The Controls Engineer will report to OMI's Director of Engineering and will work cross-functionally with technical and administrative Equipment team members.
Responsibilities of Controls Engineer include, but are not limited to:
Designing and supporting electro-mechanical equipment encompassing motors, fans, blowers, relays, timers, VFD drives, PLCs, and other industrial controls.
Programming Allen-Bradley & Siemens PLCs integrated into advanced equipment; therefore A-B & Siemens programming experience is essential.
Utilizing custom coding languages to develop and install machine programs using automation software.
Troubleshooting system errors and documenting ways to improve.
Perform and document product performance and reliability testing.
Managing customer equipment lead times to ensure completion on or before due date.
Assist customers and sales staff in the field and through phone support.
Support the creation of technical manuals and other literature as needed.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

Associate's degree or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred.
Candidates with a Technical Certificate and applicable experience will be considered.
2-10 yrs.
experience in= field service, maintenance, controls, design, testing, product development, and/or Electro-mechanical systems.
Very good electro-mechanical aptitude & knowledge.
Good computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, etc.
).
AutoCAD knowledge a plus.
Knowledge and experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, blowers, and/or motors, a plus.
Experience with PLC programming required.
Knowledge of SCADA and SMART device communications a plus.
Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and be able to react quickly to business and customer demands.
Good planning and organization skills.
The candidate should be motivated and driven for excellence.
Strong customer service acumen and ability to resolve issues diplomatically.
Due to security requirements some customers require a background check and/or drug test to secure on-site clearance.
Ability to travel and rent/drive a vehicle.
Up to 10 - 20 % occasional overnight travel.
